I've been prompted to post this blog after 'Jeff Gerstmann' an established and well respected editor from the site 'GameSpot' was sacked after his honest review of the game "Kane & Lynch: Dead Men" by Eidos. I'm posting this following information after my response to a post on the 'Gamespot' forums was locked. If they think they can censor me, then they are wrong....

In 1999 I was responsible for a small independant 'PlayStation Site'. I gave honest reviews of games in my collection as I played them. The site started to become very popular and at its peak was getting around 2 million hits per month. I was apporached by a well know games magazine and started to advertise on the site. The site was making around £4,000 in advertising revenue a month. It wasn't long before games developers started sending me Games for review. Being solo it was a lot of hard work and every now and then, along with these games, I received
'pre-written reviews', gifts and other incentives. It wasn't long after this that the advertising buisness boom, suddenly dropped, and most advertisers pulled out of advertising on the net. I was forced to close the site down due to bandwidth prices and no revenue to pay for the huge amount of hits the site was getting.
So the next time you go to your favourite games review site, take the reviews with a pinch of salt as the developer bullies may have got to them!
